12/4/2018 0 Comments PORTRAITS OF TETRACHSThis sculpture is dated from around 300 BC. They stand in Italy. They depict four rulers who were in charge on the empire of that time. Roman portraiture symbolized civic duty. And that is how i will be comparing this to the other portraits in this exhibition. The first picture from history was of a king and this one is of the rulers so that is one way that they compare. Another way they compare is that they both have a smooth finish that make it seem as though they had been taken their time on it. Greek and Roman portraits are similar because they have shared a culture for many years. This is one of my favorite portraits ever made because the craftsmanship is just so remarkable. It really is immaculate and just so pretty to look at.
